The subject isn't one that crosses
most people's minds: "Pets killed in local house fire".
But there are daily reports from around the country of
pets being injured or killed in house fires. Sometimes,
this subject strikes too close to home.
Local fire departments were not
equipped to assist pets suffering from smoke
inhalation at the scenes of
fires. Now they are.
Our team at Brown County Veterinary
Hospital and Cat Care Clinic of Brown County has worked
to resolve this through raising money to purchase pet
resuscitators for each of the five local rescue squads.
We have chosen kits which includes
the resuscitator unit, aspirator mask, resuscitator
mask, and oxygen adaptor. The Green Bay Fire
Departments have been trained, and the respirators are
now ready for use in fire rescues.
With support and donations from staff, clients,
distributors, and the community, we would like to change
the news headlines to something a little more uplifting:
"local fire department saves pets in house fire".
We would like to thank you for your
support for this cause. Hopefully you will never have a
need for them, but they are now available just in case.
