Senior Cats
Different cats show signs of the aging process at different rates.  It is best to recognize the signs of aging is before serious disabilities are present.

Many aging problems are easily treated or controlled with medication, diet, and lifestyle changes.  New, safer arthritis medications are helping pets live more active, comfortable lives.  Special diets can slow the aging process of the organs and/or help control weight.  The earlier we detect problems, the more treatable they are, and we can help your cat live a longer, healthier life.

Arthritis, weight problems, poor skin and haircoat, vision or hearing changes, and dental disease are common, easily observed problems related to aging.  But diseases of the heart, kidneys, liver, and intestines also occur frequently in the older cat.  The internal organs have been working continuously for many years, and begin to work less efficiently with age.  Detecting problems of the internal organs are more difficult to observe, so our clinic has put together several tests to detect internal problems before they are visible.

The senior cat panel consists of blood and urine tests to evaluate organ function and overall health.  It is a painless procedure that can be done with your cat's regular physical exam.  Normal results provide a baseline of values for future reference, which enables us to detect early trends in organ function. Abnormal results are a signal to recommend possible lifestyle changes and begin treatment for the problems presented.

Please ask the doctor or technician about a senior panel today!
